Need Help fixing Horn

I bought a couple things from 928 Intl to fix my horn and a piece to keep my horn pad on. For some reason I am not getting correct contact of the copper pieces. The Horn Contact in the 2nd picture is what I bought and installed. The brass ring on my old one was 95% gone. The signal stalk is a Euro one I bought off eBay. I can ground the contact on the signal stalk to the steering shaft and the horn works, but it's not working with the steering wheel attached.

With the wheel installed, if you ground one of the three brass past does the hotn sound, that would prove that the ring is making contact to the spring. You may also have an open in the small ground wire front the horn pad, make sure you have continuity from all 3 terminals on the horn pad to the ground wire.

Thats the thing, I ground the wire to all 3 terminals and no honks. I was wondering if I am missing something or is the ring ok? The horn contact is used from 928 Intl, so I don't have aything to compare to. Does it look correct?

How about a pic of the front of the steering wheel and the back of the horn pad? Verify the wire s928s mentioned is hooked up between the steering wheel and horn pad.

Hi Raymond,

Front of steering wheel is just the wire from the Round Horn Contact. Even if the wire was unhooked from the horn pad, I still get no honk if I ground the wire to any of the 3 terminals or steering column. I need to verify if all the parts to this puzzle is there. I guess I could check the continuity of the horn contact and wire. Sometimes I regret buying used stuff. Although it's probably fine.

Oh, I also had a thought. Maybe the stalk is set too far back on the column? I know I tried to adjust it to how the stalk controls won't hit the covers, but didn't take into account the horn since it has never worked.

If the black wire's hooked up from the wheel to the pad, then it sounds like maybe the brass tab on the stalk assembly is not making contact with the brass ring on the back of the steering wheel hub. So yes, maybe you need to move the stalk assembly up as much as possible without causing any interference for the levers.

Will do. Also as you can see in the picture, the stalk brass tab was flat when i got it, so I pull it up a little to help in contact. From the picture, it seems as if the stalk is almost hitting the Pod. I will verify later.

Don't forget to put a dab of distributor grease on the contact ring.

Ummmm, I've done worse. Although the car wasn't rolling down the street. Sorry, I didn't update the post, but got it sorted. It was the Signal Stalk, a quick adjust towards the steering wheel and I got contact. Now I can focus on other fixes besides figuring out how to put a Gun Turret on my 928.
