XXV is the fuel injector system relay in my 87 S4. So why would the ole fuel injector relay keep failing? About three months ago the car stalled and would not start. Come to find out the relay was bad. The connectors were corroded so I cleaned them all and installed a new relay. It ran fine up until today. It stalled at a light with my wife driving it (alone, so here comes the "you need a newer car" discussion). I swapped it out with the defroster relay (not a priority in San Antonio) and drove it home. Pulled the panel again and checked for corrosion except this time none was found. Looking for some ideas. Electrical systems are not my cup of tea.
Thanks in advance.... |

Follow the wires, corrosion or a short is my guess, unless you swapped in an old relay.
Did you check the old relay to be sure its bad? If so I would take it apart and see how it failed. |

A short is what I would suspect to croak a relay, unless it was just a bad one.
First make sure the relay is really bad, test in the defroster maybe, since a bad connection could also look like a bad relay. |

Relay issues
Not an electrician by trade, but this was a good webpage for the Bosch relays. Hope this helps.
