ROUGH SoCal 81 parts car on ebay

Abandoned at a garage, BIN is $275, bid $135, but I am not tempted.

OTOH if we could find a space, and somebody could actually use something that is left on it, a pick a part party might be fun. Chatsworth is about a $75 to $100 flatbed trip to Stephen's house. ;)

Can't see the shifter, but pedals are for an automatic.

Nice find, but i think anything you pick off it will crumble in your hands ;)

american-kiwi 08-05-2009 10:11 AM

it looks like the car that was for sale in Phoenix...i know its not....but could of been a twin...At $300.....what you think AZ-kid?...just as bad?

m21sniper 08-05-2009 10:28 AM

If you bought it just to sell the glass you'd make money on it, but you'd need somewhere to store it first.

Danglerb 08-05-2009 11:26 AM

Might be worth buying it so some poor fool doesn't buy and want us to help fix it. ;)

Can't say I've thought of any part I would want for myself off it, but taking one apart if you haven't done it before is kinda fun.

Danglerb 08-05-2009 01:38 PM

Catch is tires on the road and you need tags on the plates. ;) Could be a nasty ticket otherwise.

Somebody might have a trailer, but if a local spot turned up, cost to flatbed isn't that bad. I'm not sure if Lucerne Valley would work out as being handy. ;) Not that I don't appreciate the offer.

I don't know how serious I am yet either, fun fun fun, might turn to dumb dumb dumb in a couple days. What we need are at least five people who see something they want on that car worth $50+ that somebody else doesn't already want.

Title is junk, hasn't been registered in 10+ years no smog records, and carfax shows 3 records which could be diddly useful.

Not my list, but things others might find useful.
Set of phone dials
pair of side mirrors
Seats for parts.
Ljet brains
Intake spider
Fuel injectors
Core parts for rebuild like AC PS etc.
Torque tube
Transmission 3 spd
Accessory brackets
Glass
Trim
AC parts
Bumpers
Fenders
Brakes calipers and rotors.
fuel tank
exhaust including cats (if there).
locks
headlights
Fans
ac blower
sun roof motor
dash and pod as cores.
Heads and cams
Metal for the crusher, cost of hauling away remains.

if it was in Texas--I'd be all over that one.

One bid is in from a member of the forum.

How can you tell since eBay hides the member ID. Unless this person told you and is local to you or it's "you."

Yup, not me, not sure if bidder wants ID public so I didn't give it. Just posting so nobody thinks it still needs bidding on.

It's me. I am not paying more than the minimum bid, so if you (you all) want it, go for it. Michael

Nah, just go to AAA or the DMV and get one of those 1-day permits. They are Free Fifty Free. Tape it on the rear window (or whatever glass is facing back) and your good to go. I did just that when I bought my Euro and trailered it with a U-Haul 2 wheel off ground tow dolly.

Thanks MP. Good to know. Anyone flat tow one before - with two tow hooks?

MPDano 08-07-2009 11:01 AM

No Prob. FYI, if I had the space, I would have bought it. No space to hide it from the Boss (Wife).

that sounds very dangerous----

have it flatbed-ed or use a trailer, please.

I don't think they give out the one day permit anymore without a failed smog test. Trailer or flatbed are the only ways I would recommend moving it. Tires are likely shot, brakes, steering etc in who know what condition.

Looks like a full length auto trailer is $55 from Uhaul, but others may be better, and there may be hidden costs (trailer light adapters etc.).

I've got an 8 ton come along (winch with a lever to crank it) if you need one.

Thank you for you concerns. I will probably upgrade to the 200 mile package by AAA (currently have the 100).

Thanks Mike for your offer. I will more than likely have it towed or borrow or rent a local trailer. Michael

Arizona_928 08-07-2009 04:58 PM

i would go two wheels on, two wheels off. U-haul has it for like $30, I was gonna use that one when i moved to move the 914 but opt'ed with the 4 wheels off because i was in the middle of restoring the rear end, and it had flats. anyways either way you go you'll need a wench to help you load it...

Danglerb 08-07-2009 09:42 PM

If you use a wench to load you better find a big strong one, or borrow my winch. ;)

928 are too low for a two wheel dolly, plus it would need good tires and registration.

I have AAA, but I didn't think they covered anything but break down towing. I've been paying a local service when mine need moving around.
