I was going to bid on a torque tube but it seems to have ended early, WTH?

928worldwide 08-19-2009 10:10 AM

I have others coming in all the time. Just give a buzz anytime.

I was going to bid also - this has happened before with this seller when I was going to bid on a clock and the required starting bid was doubled halfway through the auction by the seller. It's like you have to bid against both the seller and other bidders. In the case of the torque tube, it appears that the low starting point and cheap shipping price for a heavy and cumbersome item would not be profitable for this seller so he ended it. A crappy way to have an auction.

Trying to squeeze the ebay fees by pulling the auctions before they finish? Kind of low-brow, especially when your buying audience is compalining repeatedly. If you are just using ebay as an advertising medium to funnel customers directly to you, but not letting the auctions go to completion, you should just make an announcement here and on Reutter to that effect. No need to get potential buyers spun up when you yank the auctions early.

Maybe you should ask yourself WWMAD? (what would Mark Anderson do?)

My too sense.

Mason,
I would like to know why you canceled my bid on the bumper cover auction with less than 1 minute left on the clock. By the way out of the 30-40 auctions you had that were ending during that 30 min period, it was one of the two you called out on the first post.

I had the winning bid up to that point.

928worldwide 08-20-2009 06:55 AM

Bumper had an error in the listing pertaining to shipping costs, and I missed the deadline to end the auction... I spoke at length with ebay on how to resolve and followed their directive. Sorry if it caused you inconvenience in any way....

Dr. Bob, Let me know when you get your sailboat widgets biz rolling on ebay....We'll chat about it... Until then, my comment is:

YOU NEED IT? WE HAVE IT!

Removing the link in the original post does not cover you!!

I went back to the auction and can see where you canceled another bid 6 days earlier. Then you came to this forum and started this thread with a link to that exact auction. You should have updated the listing to include a statement that the auction was no longer valid. At the very least you should not come here and promote it.

I still need the bumper cover. I am willing to pay a fair shipping cost plus the $1 winning bid, but don't jack the cost of the shipping up just to raise the price of the bumper cover.

Editing out the link in the original post this morning, does not change the situation!!

Tim,
I'm going to run another auction, with the correct shipping parameters. Thanks for your interest. SmileWavy

Why do you waste our time and interest running these bogus auctions? I think I'll stick with Mark and Roger.

dr bob 08-20-2009 06:09 PM

I'm guessing that eBay let's add to the comments section of your listings without cancelling the whole auction with a minute to go. If you need more than a dollar for the part, put a min starting bid on it that you will be comfortable with. If it sells it sells, and all are happy. If nobody wants it at that price, nobody is hurt.

I don't need to open a sailboat widgets business on eBay. Funding here is adequate from fees, royalties, licenses and rent. No need to be stuck in the eBay business ruts. At least for now. Keep paying your power bills please and all will be fine here. :) thanks for your concern.

And man up on the bumper cover. My two cents.

Did I mention: YOU NEED IT? - WE HAVE IT!

Dozman 08-22-2009 05:33 PM

Mason,

What I need is the used rubber piece that attaches to the bottom of the sand seperator
(#14).
That or a complete used sand seperator.

I know I can buy a new one, but used is cheaper.

928worldwide 08-23-2009 08:38 AM

Hello,
Can you list the part #?

Dozman 08-23-2009 10:18 AM

My mistake its on page 27, part number 928 110 274 01. I just need the rubber boot on the bottom of the sand seperator.

Well I see the same items are back with the same false shipping costs, both the torque tube and the bumper cover.

928worldwide 08-24-2009 05:07 AM

Mike,

If you need a torque tube and bumper cover, call me.
