also i wanted to add that when it runs it makes a hissing sound.

there is a small plate on the back side of the cam housing that is known to leak, could also be a head gasket leak ... either will drip oil on the manifold

I wonder if the smoke is related to the leak that is causing the puddle you mentioned in the other thread.
|
What does the smoke smell like? Is it regular exhaust?
You might consider putting the car on jack stands, starting it up from cold, and then [carefully!!!] crawling underneath and look at the exhaust manifolds with a flashlight. Feel around the manifolds and see if you can feel where the exhaust is leaking. N |

What is the thing that looks like a shower drain with the holes etc.?

Coolant dripping on something hot?
Just behind the coolant reservoir, up in the tray area next to the windshield wiper mechanism is the blower motor for the air conditioning/ventilation. Lift the plastic tray off and examine this while the engine is running. It is possible that the motor is frying out. Mine simply started making a god-awful rumbling buzzing noise one day, and I had to replace it since its bearing went bad. It was a female dog getting that thing in and out.... Good luck! N |
It could be a valve cover gasket. Oil gets on the headers, and causes a bit of smoke.

ok so i just went under the car to see if i could tighten those allen bolts that hold the cam covers on and they were tight as hell. i could see though that oil was coming out of where i had removed the three allen bolts previously. so i lathered the joint between the block and the cam cover with headgasket sealer. when it dries, ill let you guys know if that was the problem or not....
