thanks again

hello, i was the creator of the "need major help" threads. you guys helped me out so much and i just wanted to thank you all again. even at the end of the thread my car was still having problems idling and stuff. i fixed it today. my dad suggested it could be the distributor was off a tooth or so. so i pulled it out and moved it over one tooth and stupid me... i didnt line up all the timing marks first so when i put it together and tried to start it, the timing was off so much it was blowing the exhaust out the air intake. haha. but i figured it out and lined up the marks and turned the distributor back to its timing mark on the housing and now it runs great with no problems and it doesnt try to die. it does have a little high idle, im not sure why, it idles around 1k rpm. but theres no smoke and no pops or clanks, it runs real nice and smooth. thanks again for all your help, i wouldnt have been able to do it alone, ive learned soooooo much about engines from you guys i wish i could repay you guys somehow. THANK YOU

i figured out it was because the previous owner had everything lined up off the #5 cylinder instead of the #1, the distributer was lined up with the timing mark at #5 instead of #1, i hope you understand what im trying to say

common mistake--just like putting the crank balancer on backwards.

good to hear you got it sorted-congrats.
