Question Steering clumn upper bearing failure

The top plastic bearing (928-347-791-00) in my steering column has failed - its completely disintegrated! I have been able to retrieve all teh broken parts, and all teh ball bearings. Pelicans fix for a sloppy bearing only works if there is actually one there, so i have to replace the bearing. It looks like from the manual - section 48 - 25 that the new bearing is pressed in from the front ( steering wheel )side, so the column does not have to come out.
Can someone confirm or otherwise for me, please.

To replace the bearing remove the one first to do this
remove the steering wheel
Replace the nut on the shaft then pull the nut to the back of the car so it relieves the pressure and remove the E clip.
Once the E clip is off then remove the sliding spacer. use a small screwdriver to chip out the rest of the old bearing housing.

The balls will fall down the shaft, at this point you can either leave them there or remove the column housing by removing the pod and the height adjuster screws then pulling the housing out, put a towel on the floor so the greasy bearings dont mess up the carpet.
Replace the housing then tap in the new bearing with the flat edge on the rim facing up.
Put the spacer collar on then the nut, pull up on the nut while inserting the E clip, a helper is good for this
