Aftarmarket Gauges

Hey Guys,
recently purchased an 84 928 track car. It still has the stock cluster. but the years have not been good and the connections on the cluster cannot be trusted. I want to install a set of aftermarket gauges, Water temp, oil temp and oil pressure. where is the best locations to tap into the block for the sensors. I know there must be places, just not familiar with this motor.
Thanks...

Most of the track cars I've seen continue to use the factory basic instruments in the pod. I don't know if all the signals are compatible with aftermarket gauges.

Your going to need a set of workshop manuals and the associated wiring diagrams.

Maybe some of the racer guys will have some first hand comments and or suggestions.

well not looking to utilize the existing wiring or electronics. These gauges came with their own senders, so now i need to find ports in the engine to insert them.

I'm doing my own design for my 928 race car, inspired by the F430. Dont have any pictures handy, but might be able to find a link to some.

Here's my design:

Here's how it turned out: couldn't be more pleased.

Laser-cut 1/8" aluminum, covered in suede, using custom Speedhut gauges, all are peak-hold warning, where if the oil pressure is too low or too high, the warning light comes on. IF the water is too cold or too hot, or if the oil temp is too low/hot, all gauges are programmable to trigger the large warning light.

Tach has progressive shift lights built in that are adjustable, which will also trigger the external shift light.

Sunshield is lexan, glossy on the underside to reflect the shift lights, suede on top.

nice job.. much better than stock. For now i will prolly keep the stock cluster in place. Where did you tap into the block for your sending units, or did you just use the stock systems?

stock senders: Speedhut offers conversions & such. We intend to do the Texas Mile high-speed event (too) so a Speedo was included in our design.
