Magnaflow, I think a 5x8x14 oval, a touch loud, but you know it has some kind of muffler.

Mike, do you know the measurements from the end of the muffler to the furthest tip of the tips?

I could try and measure it, but that's the sort of thing a muffler shop "fits" to the car.

You want just the tip to the muffler, something like 8"?

Yeah, but I was looking at the Magnaflow Street mufflers which has the tips already on them. I was going to compare your measurements to theirs. It's hard to shop online with physically seeing the item.

Here's what I was looking at.

True, but the price on Magnaflow is suggested. Pretty much half that on eBay.

I don't know the specifics on my muffler, the guys in the shop cooked it up, and I just nodded my head. It looks like that one though.

I am reviving this thread since I had more questions on this. I really want to rid my Pumpkin Muffler. Mike mentioned one type of Magnaflow but was wondering about this other similar one. Mikes suggestion is a 3-stage but the other one doesn't say. Anyone know?

Also, muffler before the final muffler was changed to a Reasonator, should I just remove this when I put a Magnaflow on?

Mikes:

Doesn't your pipe size determine which of those you're going to use? You have a single pipe? What size"

I have Magnaflows on my racer and love the product. They are 4" racing mufflers which are a straight thru pipe with packing, one at the rear and a shorter one ahead of the axle just because I could fit it there and they have little effect on flow. Even that 4" race setup is not especially loud.

I'm interested in the Magnas, as well.

My set up is: catless X, large resonators, and RMB. So loud my ears ring, and there's a bad resonance at about 2k RPM.

I don't want to F*** with climbing back under the car to add cats, so I'm hoping a rear muffler will do the trick.

My piping is 2-1/2". I guess my question was, "what is the difference between the 2 Magnaflows? 1 says 3 Chambers, but the other doesn't state how many Chambers. Maybe it's a straight through?

Also, I was thinking RMB and use the Magnaflow Muffler at the Resonator area as I saw a pretty cool looking Tailpipe I would like to use. There seems to be space for a full muffler where the resonator is now. It looks like the PO replaced the muffler with a resonator.

They are MOROSO mufflers using spiral flow tech (BS), and Yes I use them.

I have a very unique exhaust that I built and w/o coming off like a blowhard, My Euro is the best sounding stock engined 928. I have heard all the other combo's at 928 meets and drives and nothing comes close.

It's not all due to these mufflers, but they don't hurt. My system is true dual all the way - NEVER mixing. It is Stainless Steel, dual 2.5 in tubing with 2 hi-flow SS 4 inch long (spiral internals) cats going back to the moroso's sitting where the pumpkin used to and exiting them via 3" angled Stainless tips.

It is all 1 piece that is all tig welded at all joints. No clamps, just quality.

EVERYTHING you do will affect the sound you get. Just take a coke bottle and whistle over it, change the angle and speed and get a different sound.

The euro engine is the best sound to begin with - 2 large valves and the high compression.

You could place the mufflers right after the cats under the center of the car and finish with an RMB. You could install an x-pipe or headers. EVERYTHING and its PLACEMENT will change the sound you get.

Mine might even sound better with headers. I am just saying I have the best sound on a stock engined 928 way better than any magna-flow in person or video posted.

I think the cats have a lot to do with it also.
