Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad news!!!!!!

guess what? i went to go take my sister for a drive in my 928 and.........some F*****G GUY decided he was going to hit me. he was behind me, tailgating me all the way down 39th Ave. i left onto 241 and started going like normal. i was doing maybe 35mph when i look back and this guy is sooooo close, i cant see his grill or the passenger side of the car (looking in the driver side mirror) so i decided i would let off the gas and give it some brake. (litterally, i would have had to brake harder to turn into a neighborhood) and this guy hits his brakes. im in 4 gear doing like 20mph now and this guy floors his car, passes me on a double yellow and LOCKS UP i slam on my s***y barely working brakes and the fronts lock up, i turn right but the car doesnt go right. i have learned from drifting around our tree farm that you have to let the wheel roll for you to have traction, so i let off the brakes, and jammed the steering wheel to the left as fast as i could. and i MISSED HIM! thank god, only now iam in a turning lane for on-coming traffic. and there are cars comming. so i shift way down, and before i can let the clutch in all the way, this guy floors his car, and SLAMS LEFT, RIGHT INTO ME!!!!! i was way over the yellow line in the other turning lane because i would have smashed into him straight on, so i veered left into an oncoming turning lane and apparently this guy didnt want me there, so he just f*****g steers left right into me buckles my wheel smashes the side of my beloved car and f***s up my ROH Modena wheel. so now my left front wheel is straight, but my right front is jerking left and right violently, making the car hop up and down. then it sticks all the way right. by this time the guy swerved back into his lane and hit the brakes. i, meanwhile, was keeping me and my sister out of the oak trees on the shoulder and out of the oncoming traffic with a left wheel going straight and a right wheel turned all the way to the right. i drift around while the wheel is jammed right and skidding on the pavement. i finally get it to the shoulder a good 300ft from where the other guy is stopped after wrestling a 3500lbs porsche with a f****d up wheel, skipping around on pavement and sliding into oncoming traffic then swerving over towards oak trees. (actually, i humbly say that i kept if from swerving but i did go into the other lane, face a car head on then steer right then i BARELY got it away from the trees). so now iam here with a f****d up porsche on the side of the road and this guy is on the phone with the cops. to make a VERY long story short, the cop at first was on his side, but then we walked over to where the guy had first slammed into me and i showed him the tire marks and how when he hit me my allow wheel joint snapped and the tire f*****g jammed right and started hopping and skipping all over the place. i also showed the cop that my RIGHT FRONT tire was a good 1 1/2ft to the left of the yellow line.....meaning the other guy HAD TO have smashed his car into mine, because i was trying to go around him because i couldnt stop fast enough, then the guy thinks otherwise and floors it and attempts to keep me from going around by pulling a Die Hard move on me and slams his s**t into my car. now here is where it gets funny, the guy told the cop that when he brake checked me, i stopped, and tried to go around him but FAILED and smashed into the back of him. but then i showed the cop that i had NO front end damage, it was all on the side, not even the corner of the car was touched, it was ALL over the wheel. then the guy got a ticket and i got to walk home thinking about to report it to insurance and deal with the rise in fee's or to just fix it with my own pocket money (which i dont have). the Porsche was put on a Jerr-Dadd (flatbed) and is now in my driveway all f****d up. ill post some pictures of it when i finish my dinner and get the camera out of my parents car.

Geez man, that's one funked up story. I had a similar tailgater earlier this week while going to work. Our cars must have a "Please touch your front bumper to my rear bumper" sticker on them. Knowing my temper, I most likely would have gone Mike Tyson on the guy. No, I wouldn't have bit his ear!

Glad you and sister walked away from this one. Your well being is for sure worth more than a car (even a Porsche 928).

Now, finish that dinner and post up those pics.

Iv'e had a similair incident with an idiot in a miny van'e doing about sixty on a highway, he she or it, was tailgateing me in a hurry I saw a slow moving truck in the left lane ahead so moved over to the right, as the got closer to the truck I boxed em in for a few miles at about 45 MPH then he she or it decided they wanted out and rammed me, they actually went up on two wheels and one of the wheels drove across the hood of my car they flattened out and kept on driving. Luckily I was in my saab. I pulled over and called the police who took my report and sent me on my merry way, no major damage to my car the dent popped out and the mark across the hood buffed out, nothing broke, I couldnt believe it.

I will never do that again there are some road rage crazy idiots out there, in this economy there are a lot of pissed off people with nothing left to lose at the ends of thier rope.

I am glad no one was injured.

i dont know, but i hope its something like reckless driving cause it was. do you see all the rusty brake pad dust on the wheel from locking up??

That being said...

Never, ever, ever brake check a tailgater. You are just asking for trouble. Just the fact they are following so closely I would suspect some sort of impairment.

I watch traffic very carefully and typically see these types coming up through traffic in my mirrors. I try to politely get out of their way. If they insist on tailgating I try to pull to the right an wave them around. If they insist further, I pull off the road. If they follow, I wait for them to get out of their car then speed off and disappear into the distance. And remember the make and model of the car and a description of the driver for the story I will tell if I am pulled over by police in my hasty get away.

It's just not worth it to get into any kind of confrontation with these people.

If you want to mess with a tailgater, which is NOT a good idea, the trick is to tap the brakes just enough to turn on the brake lights and mash the accelerator at the same time. The brain sees the brake lights and mistakes the down movement from acceleration for similarly hard braking.

OTOH a friend did that and the car behind him locked up the brakes and skidded sideways enough to see the cop car doors .... No ticket, but Barney had smoke coming out his ears when he pulled him over.

Make your car safe before you continue to drive it.

Definetly,Big on the BUMMER!! I support the advisories previously stated...BTW, in CA sometimes braketappers for tailgaters get shot at.

In this era, games can be deadly or at least dangerous. Some people do not value life or property...SHARK owners do...

DRIVE SAFE AND SANE, let the other guy/gal have it their way. Take the high ground, but note the make model and plates (photo if possible) it may be useful down the road...

yeah i know, iam having trouble getting off the fender. there is a screw on the side closest to the door that i cant get to because of the washer fluid reservoir and there is one nut holding it to the bumper that i cant really get too....

Always look to the bright side of things. If you file against his insurance, maybe you can find someone to fix the body for cheap, and then have some $ left over to get the motor fixed too since you've been having problems with it.

If he's at fault, his insurance co. will have to pay to repair your car. That's what insurance is for.

Yes Florida is a no fault state and NO, it appears to me that you are not at fault EIP. What you choose to do with this is your choice. You can try to sue him, but I suspect...that you will spend thousands on attorney fees only to reap hundreds of rewards. You ought to just buy a new fender from 928intl.com, have it painted, and use the manuals to put it on.

I'm just glad to hear that you weren't hurt. 928 accidents are the type that usually result in fatalities~
