tell how your audio upgrade went
I was just wondering if anyone has completely gone through their 928 stereo, you know out with the old and in with the new. I would be interested in hearing anything anyone has to say about how they tweaked their system out
My car is a 89 10 speaker system, i have heard there are amps here and components there ~ The more detail the better |
Complete redo for my 82 audio.

Wow can you come do mine. very nice
|
I installed an entire system with an Alpine ida x305.
With the sub mounted in the spare tire well and the other mb quartz speakers, it's the best quality sound I've ever heard. The 928 is a great soundroom! My only complaint is that it's hard to see the lcd display in sunlight, impossible actually. |

Nice work!
Do you have lots of racket and rattles in your cabin? I've got my cabin virtually rattle and racket free now. I wish my speakers had easy-access covers instead of perforation of the door panel. :( |

..Nice clean sound ..I hated the perforated door panels. |
Sweet.

OK so now I am inspired
I just ordered the boss 7"screen BV9990 http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...BossBV9990.jpg But I have a Question about the speaker size The large are called 6 1/2 but are the others called a 4 1/2 and the tweeter a 3" I am looking at the Chaos Exxtreme line http://pics.lapkosoft.com/VM/CH6530.jpg I am also wondering about the different Amps? what is is the best channel combination to hook up for those 10 speakers?? I was thinking of a 2 channel for the two 6 1/2' speakers and a 4 channel (frt & back Left & right ????) for the other speakers SE800 Chaos Special Edition Amplifier - SE800 - The Consumer Link http://theconsumerlink.com/imagesEdp...io/p89785z.jpg . |
I'd go for a multi-channel amp myself.
|
I have always found multi channel amps or multiple amp set-ups are better. Easier to control to output setting and the strength. Most systems sound very flat powered by 1 large amp. Most people over power their systems. 800-1000 watts are not needed.
My setup has 1 amp for the front right and left and a passive crossover for the 3 components. 1 amp for the rear components. 1 amp bridged for the sub. I can crank my setup to the point you cannot stand the volume and the sound is still clean. David |
the Boss stuff that came was wrong and not what I wanted, so
Went with JL speakers (XR653-cs), the new 600 watt (XD600/6)JL amp, Pioneer 7 inch (AVH-P5200BT) with Nav Module and a 800 watt sub (TS-SW251) Pics and up dates to come |
So far I've done straight replacements. 3.5 in the doors, 4's in the rear. Still waiting on the powered sub that will go under my seat.
I still have one rear speaker left to change out. Man, what a job that is. But clarity is there now. The powered sub hopefully will bring in the bottom end some. The Alpine head unit is perfect. |
I'm really enjoying the Memphis speakers. Perfect fit, great clarity, affordable.
