Window Bracket Roller and Rivet
My passenger side nylon window bracket roller is history. I got a new roller and metal rivet. How do I install them? Do I have to drill out the old rivet? How do I install the new one? Does it have to be welded in? If so, can I get the bracket out of the door to drill out the old rivet and take to a welder to get the new one welded in? Help!!!

Grind the flared button end off of the old one and hammer in the new one while holding it against a hard surface. This will mushroom/flare out the end of the new one. DONE!!

Thanks, Fabio421. It is obvious now I have to get the bracket out of the door. How do I do that? Do I have to take the window out as well?

You don't need to pull the window. The window is attached to the mechanism via this carrier.
Remove ALL the screws that hold the window winder to the door. Remove the winder assembly from the door; remove the old part: this means you probably have to drill out the rivet that holds the broken plastic part. Then place the new part down on a concrete surface and use a socket extension or some other part to drive into place the new part. As per any rivet, just pound the end down enough to secure the part involved. Hope it works! |

you will have better results if you drill out the center of the new rivet for a bolt and nut to secure it to the arm .( make sure the bolt head is flush to the rivet head so it wont bind on the window channel)
to make the rivet work you really need a press to mash the rivet. To remove the arm first tape the window edges in the up position to the top of the door frame then slide the regulator arm out of the window channel then remove the center rod that the window guides run on then slide the arm to the hole in the door then pull it out disconnect the motor wires first
