Thing on cross-member
What's the valve-thingy mounted on the cross-member of my car? It has two thick tubes and two wires attached to it, and I just fixed a massive crack on the tube nearest to the engine and it didn't seem to change squat and the car was running fine before as well.

that is a solenoid for bumping up the idle for the AC.
When the AC compressor is engaged it is also supplied from the same power source, to increase the idle so the engine wont stall |
What Merlin said. I actually disconnected mine as the valve was causing a leak so my idle was higher than normal, even with the A/C off. I've never had an issue with A/C and the idle since I unhooked it.

So, since it had a massive leak that would be why my engine had unsmooth idling. It was simply sucking in ekstra air, and hence running lean?
Didn't notice it before you said so, but idle was high before. Around 1000 rpm and rough, and now it sits at factory rpm (750) and smooth as silk :D |
I actually blocked both passages go to and from the valve. Sorry mis-spoke. I guess I can remove it altogether now.
