Rack Tool - Works Great

The above link is for a steering rack centering tool on eBay. The starting bid is about $15 with $5 for shipping. It is much simpler to find a Nuts and Bolts Warehouse and buy a couple of hardened 1.5 x 50 mm bolts for $3.00 - then grind the ends into a slight point. You might check the work shop manual to verify the bolt size but I m pretty sure it's accurate - the centering tool I made works great with one to spare.

I'll check on the bolt information - I am missing a couple of the spec' numbers

Michael

Roger at 928sRus also sells them for around $10, and I will bet the shipping will be less than $5.

Bob" I think I know who you are and I do appreciate the help and your enthusiasm, but your posting of my listings is inappropriate and I think gives people the impression that it is me and it is not.I was not a member of this forum until today when I received some e-mails about this and other posts by you.I prefer to do my own marketing and do not want to tick off the fine Pelican people.
I feel your intensions were good and I thank you for the effort but please stop and remove. Thanks, Ed

Is it a 1.5 thread pitch or is it 1.25 like most of the others

Metric Bolt Spec's

Hey bwmac, Should’ve looked up the bolt spec’s used to make the steering rack centering tool. The complete information off the sales ticket reads “ metric hex bolt grade 10 fine, 12mm x 1.5 x 50mm”

Perhaps the difference in thread pitch 1.5 vs. 1.25 is because of the special application.

Michael
