86.5 928S won't start

We put Porken chips and an adjustable fuel regulator in the 86.5 928 taking care to disconnect the battery first and grounding to avoid static charges while removing the old chips.
The car would not start. Coincidence? We tracked down and cleaned every ground wire for all circuits, even those buried between the V. All circuits are complete but the car still does not start. We begin to think it's the ECU. Any comments or alternative ideas?
If it is the ECU, how can it be tested? What is an economical solution? Used or new? Is there a best source?
Thanks, guys.

Have you tried to put the original chip back and start? I have never chipped a car, but that's what I would do. I would do the same as far as disconnecting battery to reset the computer.

Are you using a gauge of sorts for that Adjustable Fuel Regulator? Put the old one back in.

Give it a try and report back.

Make sure the chip is not reversed.

Yes to both - first thing we did was put back the old chips and the old fuel regulator.
Is there any way of testing the ECU? Or do we need to borrow one and see if it works?

The ECU is on its way to Ft. Lauderdale to Specialized ECU Repair for diagnosis, repair or replacement. Their prices are reasonable and shipping is free. Their techs will consult over the phone about possible other issues depending on the state of the ECU.
What is a WUR and a WUV? I see on other posts these might cause starting problems.
Thanks.

WUR is only on a K-Jet CIS Fuel Injection System. Your electronic so disregard. WUV, no idea what that is. Sounds like a baby trying to say something.

Porken Chips -

Hey Robinr, Have you been able to verify that your Porken Chips were not the original problem. I have heard that some performance chips were occasionally mislabeled, faulty when the program was burned in or came shorted internally. This could explain the sudden CPU issue.

Good Luck, Michael

Merlin, thank you. We had exactly these instructions in hand when we did the swap and followed them to the letter. The computer guy in Florida assures us if the ECU is not bad he will be able to point us to the circuits that are causing the problem. The ECU and all the chips are on the way to FL where they will see more sun than we are currently in Houston! I'll post the results for your interest.

NOTE make sure the new chips are pushed fully into the sockets they can seem to be in and not make contact

BTW, just ordered the 2011 upgraded chips from Porken at an extraordinary $5.50 plus returning the 2010 chips. Hard to believe this kind of service in today's world. I'll post performance data when we a) get the engine running and b) install the chips.

The fuel pump circuit on the ECU was burned out and the guys in Florida repaired it. Somehow one of the chips was also burned out. We fitted the ECU with working chips and the car still won't start. There is no power to the crank position sensor although we know the ECU is good. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Btw, we sent the injectors to be cleaned locally. Turns out they were really dirty and working at about half effectivity. Also, Ken was gracious in sending a new set of chips with the very latest programming. If we can get the old girl started there should be a quantum increase in performance!
