86.5 fuel injector

I have an injector with a broken top. Only thing holding me up from driving mine. What other cars run the white bosch injectors? Or does anybody in this area have one?

85-86.5 have the same injectors, 24 lbs/hr. I have the set I pulled out of my 85 when I installed new Type III injectors. If your interested in them let me know. I would suggest getting them cleaned and tested if you use them. I was having some running issues before I did my top end refresh, which may or may not have been a result of injector condition.

I only need one for now. I know some early 90's saab 900's use them. Was looking for more cars to check at the local pull and pay.

Ford Racing 24# injectors. These are the new Bosch Type III injectors in 24 lb/hr to match the 85-86.5 flow rate, and come supplied with the correct O-rings to fit manifold and fuel rail also. They do however require the addition of the slot for the retaining clip to the fuel rail. This clip is necessary to keep the injector from dropping down in the manifold and coming out of the fuel rail and burning your car to the ground. The slot is relatively easy to add. I conveniently have an old (1920s) lathe in the garage, which I used to make the groove, but others have used things like dremels and hacksaws successfully.

That is exactly what we installed on an 85 about 2 weeks ago, based partly on 76FJ55's recommendation. Good price. You can't get a set cleaned for less than the price of new design III in this particular configuration. They come with Orings installed, too.
Blue Oval Industries (in Virginia) is where I got them, but about $8 more; plus in state tax.

The car is completely transformed. Been struggling with low and intermittent power for a long, long time. New plugs, wires, coils, caps & rotors, CPS, intake gaskets, vac test, computer grounds, etc, but it was finally the injectors that made all the difference.

Cutting the groove is not particularly hard. Lathe (old/new) would be the best way. Measurement is not hard. I used dremel / somewhat freehand, and it worked ok.

Here's another thread where 76FJ55 also gave advice:

I was alreay visualizing freehanding this with a dremmel lol. I was trying to picture a simple rig that might make it simple too. Ihad real smooth power before. Now I can feel a flat slot here and there. Lookslike I may go this way. Way cheaper than the blue mark iiis

I used one of the thinnest dremel cutting wheels (makes a slot about the right width).
Mine had a mold line exactly where I needed to cut, centered at 9mm from top.
Used a hose clamp as a guide, but take your time and find a better way.
A cutting wire for windshield removal is another possible way.

Hose clamp. Yes...... I like the way you think. What windshield cutting tool are you reffering to? I have a good 86.5 windshild with the antenna id like to sell. Just have to get it out in one piece. Is it even worth it?
