Need a replacement

This boot needs replacement but I have not been able to find anyone that sells this piece. Does anyone have a source? Gear shift on 5sp comes up through this boot.

Call Roger at 928'srus on Moday. :)

4 years in to this hobby, having worked on a dozen cars now and resurected 5 of my own, 928sRUS or 928 International are the places from which I buy new parts. Honest, professionally run businesess and highly engaged. If its not available new, or used from 928 Intl, then I go to individuals parting cars. (corp purchasing is my field btw) I have experience experimenting with other suppliers as well.

They say Sunset Porsche on the west coast is another solid choice for new parts --- discount too.
Pelican also has a good reputation for parts they confirm they have in-stock.

Maybe if I knew proper name for this part I could find it easier. I've been calling it a boot but I keep finding the inside the cabin leather boot around shifter. Happy Easter all!

Right here on Pelican for $9.25

OEM-92842418104
Genuine Porsche Part: SHIFT SLEEVE
- This is a special-order, non-returnable, Porsche part
(availability and shipping charges may vary). [More Info]

$9.25

Perfect. They get direct shipments from Porsche and shouldn't burn you on special shipping, though. If special upcharges, triangulate with the other two potential suppliers

These PET diagrams are useful.

PET is free. Can I re-distribute legally? If so, I can post it up on my website.

Awesome thanks Guys. Now I can only get one made of steel to keep another chipmunk attack.

Any tips on pulling the pulley off my old alternator? No issues getting the nut off using impact gun. Tried penetrating oil and letting it sit for a day. Tried heating the pulley. If it takes a special tool point me at a good one. Checked the tools selection on Pelican but nothing for this specifically. Trolled the posts here but again, nothing on this specifically. As always, your help is appreciated. :)

Mine came off relatively easy. I used a large screwdriver for leverage and nudged each side and it eventually broke free.

rent a puller for a day from Kragen or autozone.

Wrentham636 04-27-2011 06:03 PM

Puller rented, pulley is off. No key with the new one and the old key is just a little large. May try to reduce thickness enough to make it fit.
