Oil Pump Removal
Hi guys,
Had a bit of a break from the 928 (1985 32v) over the Winter. Now it's Spring I am working on her once again. I have had the engine out of the car for a while now and want to remove the oil pump. I have removed the strainer / pickup, the pulley and the three retaining bolts. Although there is some play in the pump body inside the block, it doesn't want to come out. I tried prying gently with a lever against the block and the nut on the end of the pump spindle but don't want to damage anything. What's the secret? |

you may need an extra set of hands,
put the gear back on, then use 2 pry bars and 2 pieces of wood placed on the front of the block, pry evenly on the gear the pump should come out. NOTE put the 3 bolts in the pump and screw them about 4 turns each, so the pump wont come flying out
