Shift linkage tips
Well, the cup finally popped off the ball at the front of my steering linkage leaving me stranded in neutral at a busy intesection. Traffic actually went around me quite well until the first woman showed up and stopped on my ass completely ignoring my flashers and immediately created a back up behind her.. but anyway. I did manage to pull my interior boots up an grab 3rd and limp home.
I have the replacement part coming. Any tips on changing the end and snapping it back on? I looks almost impossible from underneath. Hopefully you guys can save me some time TIA |
I am about to order the replacement part myself. I have read that a large hose clamp (or several strung together) can be used around the TT and shifter cup, so tightening the clamp squeezes the cup onto the ball stud. Also heard about using very large channel locking pliers or a prybar.

I used a ratchet strap (for removing oil filters) to pop the cup on the ball stud. It worked well.
