Ok I will be looking for that next time I'm in the garage. I need to just run a damn extension cord to the garage and use the spot light I have to get some work on her done. Tired of getting off work with no daylight left.
I will be pressurizing all the lines prior to starting to check for leaks and such. |
|
Ok thank you for those pictures. I've already read the whole thread.... Prob need to give it a 2nd over just to make sure. I will look for those. The ones on the side by the head aren't brittle. They are still very sturdy and will not bend.

Ok I found those other 2 lines you were talking about Dano. And here is a bit of an update of where I stand.
The fuel pump that NoVector from rennlist sent may be here late this week or beginning of next week. Just ordered all of the accessory belts, intake gaskets, fuel line kit, and a new fuel filter from Roger at 928sRUS today. If the weather warms up I'm hoping to see if she will come back to life before the end of the month! At least that is my goal |
Replace that hose coming off your Oil Filler as well. It's a byitch to do once your spider is back in.

Thanks to a helping hand over at rennlist I just received a fuel pump. Hope it works ok! If so then I should have just about everything I need to get her running. Parts from Roger should be here soon as well to get everything back together.

New Bosch Fuel Pump over on Auto Haus AZ for $215
$258 here on Pelican Part # 928-608-104-01-M14 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1329334776.jpg |
It is a used pump. Was pulled from a working car about 5 years ago. Should still work. Was sent to me for free with the knowledge that if it works, awesome, free pump, if it doesn't, no money spent.
Because it was free of course I was more than willing to accept it. I'm just running short on the money I was going to use on the car so this is an alternative to spending money I shouldn't atm. Thanks for the link to the pump. If this one doesn't work out I will go ahead and purchase a new pump. But for now trying to keep the costs as low as possible until I see what else needs done to the car. |
Well I started working on getting the car back together this weekend. Got the parts I ordered from Roger on Saturday and started working on it later in the day on Sunday. I did get the fuel rails rebuilt Saturday night. Talk about a pain in the ass to do w/o a dremel. I used a small pair of dykes to cut the old lines off. My hand is still sore from doing that. But all is done and they look good now.
What took most of the time I had Sunday was cleaning 30 year old gaskets off the intake plenums and the heads. Got them pretty darn clean now and vacuumed the top of my motor to remove a lot of the left over hood liner and just general nastiness that was there. It looks a bit better now. I replaced the 2 fuel lines that feed my fuel rails and just need to replace the 2 lines that some up by the passenger side head. Once that is done I should be able to put everything back together. Once the front part is back together I will install the new fuel pump and check for leaks. Still need to take a look into my fuel tank and see how bad it is. Hopefully not too bad. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1329756883.jpg Now I do have a question. There are 2 hoses that I need help tracking where they go. The first is a 'T' connector that broke. where all does this go? I can see one part of it going to the throttle body and the others I'm not sure of where they go. The 2nd one appears to be a water overflow line. I have a line going to the fill tank on the passenger side that is disconnected and will leak fluid when any main water line is squeezed. I'm assuming it goes here. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1329756713.jpg |
Just installed the final fuel hoses in the engine bay. I did end up needing a bit more line as I messed up on the first try, so I went to O'reilly's and they had a Gates Barricade w/GreenShield line that I purchased. Ended up paying $14 for 3 feet of line but I can tell it is worth it. Really good quality line. Here is a link to the page with information about this line. It has a 225 psi working pressure, which is more than enough for our cars.
Barricade® Fuel Line Hose with GreenShield® Technology |
Little more of an update here. The lines are installed. Much easier this time around. Just soaked in hot water for 45-60 seconds then put some soapy water on the barb and everything just slid right on pretty easily.
Also I took the fuel level sender out to inspect the tank and here is what I found. Pictures pretty much say it all. The brown spots in the tank are sticky. My hand is small enough to fit down inside the tank. But it doesn't look too bad. I'm wondering if it will break up when the tank is filled up? Look at what I found under the cover for the fuel level sender.... Really glad I wore gloves. I see a few Brown Recluse shells in there. Needless to say my vacuum got a work out, both in the engine bay a few days ago and in the back of the car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330035223.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330035239.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330035141.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330035163.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1330035178.jpg |
Geezus, was your car buried under the lost world of Atlantis? How in the hell can leaves get in that area? Was the Cap missing? How does under that cap under the fuel level sender look?
|

Under the sender? You mean like inside the tank or around the tank for like cracks and such? |
Yeah, under the cap in the 3rd pic which is just moved over a little. Under that, you can see if it clean or not. move the cap more or take it out and take a pic of it. Also, I was talking about the leaves all in there. Pretty hard to get leaves up and over the tank.
