928 diagram

Hi

Does anyone have experience or a diagram for measuring the front axle area on a 1979 928? I am looking for measurement points but I only found the diagram in the free workshop manual volume #7 and I am having trouble identifying measurement points on the car based on the manual. I mainly need the ones for the front of the car.

Thanks in advance.

They are dimensioning off of the "imaginary" vehicle center line (CL or "0" (zero) line). the +/- after each value is the tolerance of the given dimension; i.e. 424 +/-1 means that dimension can be in the range of 425-423. I'm almost certain they are using millimeters for the above measurements. To convert mm's to inches just divide by 25.4. i.e. 436mm/25.4 = 17.16"
- KD points are check points that are used to make sure the layout is square or within an acceptable tolerance. Hence, the diagonal measurements. These are normally taken from known vehicle flange surfaces.
- "What is this distance?" = 871 +/-2

I hope this helps.
