Wow! $18 a Liter for Torco! I guess I'll stick to Mobil 1

I agree as that looks very nice. We still need interior and engine pics as well. I still don't get the non-sunroof statement all the time as I LOVE my Sunroof. :D

Put your car up on jack stands, make sure it's level to the ground. I also throw an extra set of old rims under the car with me just in case. Your Tranny is in the rear and the filler is on the Pass side. The Reservoir will have a mark on the side of it for where the level needs to be, clean it off if you can't see it. Your car must be warm "and" running when you check this. If it is low which it sounds like it is, then use a pump of sorts to get the fluid in the reservoir. Not sure if it matters but I have my car in Neutral. Once you get it topped to the line, get in the car and cycle through the gears with your foot on the brake. Do this a few times and put it back in Neutral. Check level and fill more if needed. All of this is done with car running, except the getting it on Jack Stands part.

i havent checked the fluid yet because i am waiting on a new portable lift,,, its coming tuesday,,,, but the rest of the car is pretty nice,,,, awsome seats,,, i also got enough acorns and nuts for the rest of the winter

i wonder if any one else here has bought this lifthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1328358202.jpg

I'm sure it's fine, but I just wouldn't feel comfortable working under 1.5 tons of Porsche suspended from a one-post lift, or anything with "portable" and "lift" in the same sentence. Needs to be bolted to concrete for me.

I saw a You Tube Video of this. I think it was a UK Vid. I thought it was a nifty idea and I couldn't believe how high it got as well. How much did it run you?

Danglerb 02-04-2012 02:56 PM

I think a lot of people have gone with the MaxJax deal.

There are a few single post lifts that aren't too crazy, but I have to wonder some on the quality since its not likely a big seller to any but DIY types.

i had them build it at the warehouse and they are flatbed shipping it to me it was 2500 plus 650 to build and ship plus tax,,, i watched someone get one in a crate and assemble to much bull work for me it comes tommorow so i will pick up that car to check my tranny fluid ive got my fingers crossed if the tranny happens to be good the car will quickly get disassembled and stripped,,i love bringing these cars back to showroom condition

Most Def want to see your 928 lifted on it's max with your Portable Lift.

kuehjo 02-07-2012 11:56 AM

Do you have a link for that lift?
I'd be very interested in looking at that more closely....

BTW - the car looks nice. Its gonna be a project - but it'll be fun!

MPDano 02-07-2012 12:02 PM

Pretty sure it's this one:

MSC-6K Mobile Single Column Lift | North American Auto Equipment

bluemane500 02-07-2012 05:52 PM

it came today but i have too much customer work to play today,,,hopefully tomorrow i will get that 928 up there and look at that fluid level,,,should i just change the fluid or add some? power steering came back with a little fluid ,my fingers are crossed,, but even if i had to change a tranny ,,the car may be worth saving i think

I like the fact you can actually walk under that lift. Height-wise the unit would fit fine with my 9' tall garage ceiling and if used elsewhere could lift a car to nice tall height.

Interested to hear if it'll fit under a low car such as a 928. They mention 5" minimum pad height but the base on the right side that forms a ramp looks pretty tall.

I might be interested in purchasing one if it is actually made in the USA (including all parts). If it's a Harbor Freight China type product, I wouldn't dare walk under it. The website has America in the name, lots of red, white and blue and a few flags...but I've yet to find exactly where the products are made?

Hey that car is definitely worth saving. You made out good . its worth more than you paid in parts alone.

That said, you may be on your way to a rebuild. What I would do (If I were you) is jack it up, then drain the Torque converter and pan. Check the fluid for shavings and / or burned smell or materials.

If it passes the sniff test and you dont have shavings you can use a pump and refil with ~ 7 quarts of ATF (Dex) .

let it idle on the lift and top it off (this is if you do not have obvious leaks etc.) My trans had loose pan bolts also so make sure you check them, and your trans lines for leaks.

If that doesnt work you will have to yank the trans and rebuild but its a Mercedes Trans :D
