928 automatics
Questions
1. 3 vs 4 speed, what are the diff ratio differences? 2. Is there a diff ratio upgrade available for the 3 speed? |
My wifes 928 is running an LS1

Currently running a higher rpm than it would be in a camaro or corvette.
Runs great besides that but we want to make it a 25 + mpg car too! |
score
Nice! Bet that thing is a terror.
Seems like you made a good pick with the wife, too! Most of my experience to date has been with manual trans cars. That said, I know the Euro/RoW variants of the earlier cars have lower gear rations (higher numerically) than the US versions, making them feel scrapier to many. I would assume...always dangerous..that the same may be true for autos. With the 4 spds, I know that most are 2.42, but I think there is a 2.27 or similar, too. Best bet is probably to call 928 intl and ask about what they have available that would be compatible with your configuration. |
Hey jojomanx-
good to see you on the board. Looking forward to going out to spring mountain sometime. (there is a 928 with an LS7 that runs there sometimes.) BTW-car is lookin good :) -Kerry |

But are you talking about the diff? I didnt know it would be so low!? |
When you add in the gear ratios its about typical, top gear in the manual the differential is the final drive ratio, not sure on the automatics.
|
Oh Yeah!!! Awesome almost final pics. What about Nevada Emissions?
|

before the LS1 the tranny on 5th was a 1 to 1 ratio and the diff was a 3.65 to 1 Now with the camaro tranny its final gear it .76 to 1 ratio with a new diff at the same 3.65 to 1 On 6th gear Im doing 1500 rpm at 75 mph. Over 25 mpg on highway. |

Why fool with some Government Motors engine, put at least a European motor in the 928, perhaps a Ferrari V8, but my car stays all Porsche!
