Yeah, this would be awesome if I didn't have to sign up for RL to see the picture.

You just need to register, which is free.

I think I may swing by and have a look at it in person.

You KNOW I feel bad about that Leo. For those that don't know, Leo's "offense" was to ask why I was being banned, and poof, they banned him too.

Owning a 928 is risky business - but sometimes you just gotta say "what the fudge".

So this is the place for rebel 928 owners then? I'm in the right place. Nice car though! Is it ice blue? That's a special order isn't it? For goodness sake post this on my 928 pictures post. That post is becoming a zombie anyway.

The car is freaking awesome in person, a 23k mile car that actually looks like 23k miles. I shot the bull too long in the office with Mark and Tom, and was thinking give it a quick look and off to my next stop, but Mark says "under the hood is the best part".

Sure enough as nice as the Slate Blue exterior is, under the hood is very impressive. For a start there were rubber seals along the fender/hood I don't recall seeing before, or maybe just not fully intact. All the factory cad plating was still shiny, and it was so odd seeing that on fuel rails that are normally grey.

As far as I can tell Mark intends this to be a daily driver, and totally stock.

Looking at it made for a stark contrast vs a typical rode hard high mile 928.

Then I stopped at Precision where Greg has 4 or 5 amazing newer 928s, and deep into shark tuning a stroker. Nice day, need to buy some lotto tickets.

Well if you have over $100K to throw around, you can get a low mileage (19K) 5 speed 928 as well.

Porsche : 928 Porsche : 928 | eBay

I like the 928, but I can think of a lot of other cars I would buy first with that kind of money.

$100k 20 year old Porsches are not what people who need a $100k car buy, they are what people who already have a few $100k daily drivers buy for fun.

Maybe 20% of my neighbors own cars that were between $50k and $150k, and maybe 20% that will NEVER spend more on a new car than a mid line Ford or Chevy because a car means nothing to them but transportation. Our 1999 Lincoln Continental is pretty likely the most expensive car we will ever buy, $43k, but its for an almost entirely different purpose than our 928's where the money comes from a VERY different budget. (treatment of second childhood disorders).

Mark's new 928 was advertised for $19.5k, one would guess Mark is a fairly savvy buyer and perhaps got a bit better price, or not. You don't need to own a 928 long to figure out $20k over a few years is pretty likely, and getting a lesser car to this condition for $20k is not going to happen. Do any of us need a 928 that nice, or would choose that nice for some other option? Our wives sure hope not.

I've considered other fun cars, but nothing else out there really does for me what the 928 does. If something else cheaper works for you, jump on it.

Could be nice, but AT sure puts a cap on the fun part.
Link to dealer and more info, VIN is wp0jb092xes860244
1984 Porsche 928 - DELLINGER AUTOMOTIVE SPRINGDALE, AR

Its pretty nice, but even with the small dealer pictures I see some issues. Dash is pulling up around the air vents, and seat leather has started to shrink. No cover on the jump post, usually means its seen frequent use. Clean under the hood, but I see evidence of corrosion on fasteners, so suspect you are seeing post detail cleaning.

OTOH been asking $14.5k since last Dec, so maybe ready to deal?
