I'm not sure what intake system these two are on, but the easiest way is to use the long block from the new engine and bolt on the intake and controls that is currently in the car.

i was going to swap the whole motor for motor, the motor in the 81' is shot and maybe rebuildable, but thought a complete swap would be faster/easier and more affordable than tryn to fix bad motor.

if both are L-jet, you should be ok, but from what i recall, the 81 AFM superceeds the 80, so try that first.

air flow meter, the little flappy door piece that fits between the throttle body and the air filter box for the intake. are both of these engines complete assemblies or is it just like a lower end for your replacement?

Both same basic Ljet, so guessing easy swap. I would look both motors over carefully on the stand and move anything that looks like it needs moving. Good time to take care of anything else the motor might need, gaskets, vacuum lines, etc. as well as freshen up the engine bay while the motor is out.

both are complete, but mine runs. the 81' has everything already done to it,so i was going to take all the good working items off his and put on mine for a good runner. sounds like i should have an easy swap. thanks guys, just needed that info so i didnt do something stupid and be divorced in a week. lol

we should say "as easy as a swap gets" not "easy swap" Do all the gaskets while it's on a stand if you can. It will never be easier. You'll so regret not doing it if something leaks.
funny, when I did something stupid I ended up married
