what size....?

What size allen / hex socket do I need for the gearbox drain? It is a big mutha'.....

I'm pretty sure it's a 17mm. I bought a full set of metric hex sockets for working on this car, you're gonna use them at some point or another.

I was thinking it was 17.... I had a set at one time, but can't find them....

When I worked on my son's 944, I bought a single 17mm Allen Wrench and used a regular 17mm wrench to turn the Allen wrench. That way I could hold the Allen wrench square with the plug with one hand and apply force with the other hand. It worked great on his "stuck" plug and even easier on my 928 drains.

hmmm, thanks...I have an old box of large allens...I'll dig through tonight and see if I have a 17....

I am pretty sure I bought a 3 piece set of 3/8 or 1/2 drive socket allens with a 17mm for about $10 at Autozone. Sears wanted a whole bunch more.

Yes, it is a 17mm
