Boredom + sawzall+ extra hood = a maybe

Ok gents. I have been absent for a bit, but while I was out I was busy working on the 928. So I had a couple extra hoods. One a vented hood off of a S2000 Honda and a stock flat hood from a 928. I have always wanted to see what a vented hood would look like on a 928 but didn't want anything to over the top. Something simple and low profile. So I started cutting. Here is the basic shape..... I went off of Mark Kiborts vented hood idea and took in consideration placement in the lowest pressure area in the engine compartment ect. Keep in mind this will not only be a street car but it will see its fair share of hill climbs and hopefully the Silver State Classic next year.

Ideas, thoughts, and constructive criticism is always welcome.

It is obviously not finished and the opening will extend down towards the radiator more and should flow pretty well from the splitter I will be building next.

Looks to me like you're missing a lug or wheel stud . If I were bored... I prefer louvers I have been thinking of them.
Are you intending to fill the gap with a mesh or louvered screen?
Are you worried about water into the front ? Cant tell if its a 32 V but looks like water would fall right on the belt/coil area.

Lol yes that is a wheel lock without the lock on it. The hood section will be extended down and forward so that the actual opening will be vertical and will have mesh in there as well. I was going for letting the hot air from the radiator out of the engine for auto x and hill climbs up here in this wonderful summer heat. Like I said this is just an old hood I am playing with. I have 3 others and in crappy weather it will have just the stock flat hood back on it. I am also in the process of designing some billet scissor hinges to get away from the stock ones, so it will be easier to change hoods out and not go through the alignment issues constantly. I like the louver idea but it always reminds me of old hot rods....

It is just a lil 4.5l right now, after the chassis is sorted and done I was thinking of going To a S4 motor I have laying around and maybe twin turbo, but that is a ways off.

U street?

I'm admittedly a purist, but if you're going to modify a hood, I like that a lot!
I like the function and the aesthetics. Go, go, go!

I do love old hot rods.... U street huh? ORLY? I want to go to there. I am a collector of long legged birds as well. Lol.

Yes you are correct. A good weather hood for sure. I have 3 other stock ones so this was the worst shape of the bunch.... So why not I said. Maybe do another one in louvers and see how that looks.....

Thanks for the comments gents. Carry on.

I definitely think louvers in the right locations would look awesome..

A way to vent the exhaust would be really nice..

How much clearance do have under the recessed area? I like the look. Can you take the side lines of your recessed area back closer to the windshield? And then pivot the recessed area up to look like the normal hood in rain storms and down to expel the excess heat. The closed look would be like the sunroof opening. If fibreglass it would be light enough to use a doorlock motor to raise and lower. Although that may need an additional lever to get the full travel.
