confused on correct fluids

I remember an old post on prefered oil but could not find it again.

I would like to know what everyone recomends for

A) Engine oil

B) Manual transmission oil (not sure if atf or 75/90 gear oil

C) any other fluids that are better than the rest.

I just read that Dano recommended the Zerex G-05 antifreeze.

I'm putting together a list so thats ize never forget.

I have a 79 stick

also how the heck you fill up the tranny. I want to replace all fluids before I drive much more.

Thanks for your help

oh boy..
Just use the correct weight oil. If it has ZDDP even better.

The tranny oil is a gear oil. It will differ slightly if you have a limited slip or not. I like to use synthetic because it helps with cold shifting.

LoL...an age old loaded question. Everyone has an opinion or preference.. lots of good info comes out of it. (I asked the same question a few months ago)...so far, I have decided on 20w50 for the engine...and that's as far as I got before I had to stop work and move.

Good luck...I too am trying to iron it out.. :)

If you are running dino oil currently, you might as well stick with it, there are some good options. I dont know too much on the synthetics, but zddp is needed for wear prevention. i use Valvoline VR1 Racing oil 20w-50. it advertises a high ammount of ZDDP in it and does the job for me and easy to find at any autozone or napa/orielly usually.
