another 928

just sniped this 84 928, it should be here next monday.
I am not sure what the interior looks like, or why the wood is covering the windows
the lady said that the glass it there, so i am not sure what the deal is. I got it for 500.00 it was kind of a hike, so i bought it sight unseen, and my buddy has a trucking company and pulls vehicles all over New England, so he is gonna grab it next trip out.

Probably just needs a TB job and a fuel pump. :)

tychain99 08-23-2012 05:20 PM

curious to find out. pretty sure she told me no key...

last time i got a 928 junker they said the same things and i found the key under the mat when i started cleaning it out, so we'll see.

MPDano 08-23-2012 05:27 PM

I would say the wood is to protect the already dried out interior from getting any worse. I think I see a borla exhaust. I also think this is a score.

Is it complete? I mean if you open the hood, is there an engine in there?

Pete R 08-23-2012 05:31 PM

For $500 it's kinda worth the surprise just to see what you have.

tychain99 08-23-2012 07:18 PM

yah, hopefully engine is in there.. i have not seen it personally yet. I am getting it early next week. It is paid for, and getting pulled from NY to CT sometime between now and tuesday.

good eyes if you can pick out that that might be an aftermarket exhaust. whats an exhaust like that run ?

i also agree that it is entertaining buying it site unseen, 500 won't kill me. but the thing could be stuffed with parts, rims, gold bullion, who knows.

928 Grab Bag. :D

It does sound like fun.

stepson 08-23-2012 08:56 PM

Heck, there could be $500 in change beneath the seats (if they're there) :)

riber.bentsen 08-24-2012 01:48 AM

How does a $50.000 car get in such a state? Don't get these people...

Anyway, great buy!! Wish there were steals like that to be had in Europe :) Oh, and I think it's an Ansa rear muffler.

AirtekHVAC 08-24-2012 05:57 AM

Great buy my man! I agree, it could be a hidden pot of gold...you will at least get your money back for sure....Who knows, it may have been parked because the 14$ +/- ball cup popped off....

(or the green wire, or......)

Be very careful Ty! This is just the way I started until I ended up with 7 928s! It just kinda creeps up on you and it's a slippery slope. "Oh this is a good deal! Oh here's another good deal! Wow, I just let this one go by!" Then, before you know it, you got 7 in your driveway!

Hi! My name is John and I have a 928 addiction. (and isn't it wonderful?)

AirtekHVAC 08-24-2012 01:52 PM

I want to be like John!!!!!

tychain99 08-24-2012 02:07 PM

haaa, i have got the addiction, I have bought 3 since my original purchase. 600, 100, and 1,200 dollars, this one will be the 4th. I have the original one still, I sold one on ebay to a guy in turkey scrapped the 100.00 one after parting some stuff on it, and then sold the 1200 one and made minimal. we'll see what becomes of this one. I really am into the weird colors from the earlier 928's which is why i let the other ones go so easily.

stepson 08-24-2012 02:48 PM

I owned and have since sold:
'83 quartz metallic AT - I got as a parts car. Found that it wasn't a parts car and fixed it.
'88 Arctic white S4 - sold it after I got the Arctic white GTS
'80 Euro 5 speed- 43K miles. got it at the same time as the '83. It had an cam tower leak and the wrong fuel pump, etc, etc. It needed a paint job and I ended up selling it to the same guy that bought the '83....only about 3 years apart.

See? There is hope after all. :)

tychain99 08-24-2012 05:09 PM

yah, it has become a fun hobby scavenging craigslist for people selling this stuff. I am not the greatest mechanic, so it is a little frustrating to work on them, but buying them flipping them and parting them out to people who need stuff is a fun way to fuel the addiction

Maleficio 08-24-2012 08:16 PM

I'm dying to buy another 928. Want a stick this time.

tychain99 08-24-2012 09:51 PM

truth be told, i do not even know if this one i just bought it stick or auto... lady said the seats were there, some cob webs, small rip on one seat... kind of awful to have to wait for this pig to arrive, but like someone mentioned earlier, I don't think I did to bad. I have a set of twists with tires i can throw on it asap, and flip those D90's to a VW guy in no time. there are some many of those guys around here, any porsche rims go so fast. I had a post a while ago when I guy was commenting saying take the first offer over 100 for the D90's. I had them for 300, sold them for 280.00 the first day. I guess it all depends where you're located. Boston is crawling with VW guys, and I can ditch those flat dish wheels in a second, but those twist wheels I have for sale have been collecting dust for 6 months..

Key or no key, I'd have this one running in a day or two. ;)

tychain99 08-26-2012 08:35 AM

what can i do about it if i don't find the key? last time i got one i tried doing a vin diesel and stuck a screw driver in the ignition and beat it with a hammer with no success . I then found the keys under the seat.. how can i avoid this?
