The luck continues-car does not start.

Hello.
Just put my car up for sale on Pelican on Thursday.

2 hours later I go to start the vehicle AND it does NOT !

Drivers side fuel injector rail is clicking loudly and continuously right before full turn of the key start position.

No buzz from the fuel pump.
Relay is clicking-fuse is good.

A little shot of gasoline into the back of the intake upon start-up almost allows the car to start. It's firing.

Possibly the fuel pump-hope not.

Sounds like it's diagnosed. Make sure it's not the fuel pump relay.

Thanks. Which relay is interchangeable with the f.pump relay?

from the info you provided you need a rebuild on the LH ECU computer,
with the key on and not cranking the injectors should not make any noise.

How do you suppose that would happen?
One thing I noticed on the day before was that I knew I was getting very low on gasoline and I put in $30 bucks worth. According to the fuel gauge I knew something was wrong. Gave me 7/8 of a tank . Wrong read.
hmm.
Drove it that day 3 different times and all good.
Next day, try to start ..the story goes.

With your other thread on having poor gas mileage + fuel smell I think you might have a bad LH computer or crank position sensor.

Ask the new owner of your old 88 if you can try swapping the computers to see if it fixes the problem.

if the original computer has not been rebuilt then now is the time they fail due to old age ,
no rhyme or reason

No worries bro this happens to me too once in a while ,
I lose my decency and my words dont lead me to a place that I want to be.

I imagine it's the computer-lower-right one, on pass. footwell.
Unplugged it, turned key no noise at all from fuel rail.
Stupid question: has anyone opened up one of these with an obvious fault that one could see?
Possibly corrosion or some solder needed.
Stuck driving a taurus station wagon...ugggh.
-I know it's better than walking but..
-oh yea swapped relays- no difference.

look for someone parting an 87 or newer car you may be able to buy the computers , though if they have not been rebuilt you will be open to the same issue,
the chip goes bad so it gets replaced with a fresh programed chip

Hello.
Talked to them. They'll charge me $600.00 and finish (hopefully)-within 2 days.
They have a 3 year warr. plus -'they will replace other components that can bugger up in the future".
That does not include return. They did tell me to use Canada post, which I thanked them for . The cost is much cheaper.
Returned my call quickly and it Sunday. Impressive.

Colin (lizard931 on Rennlist) is in Abbotsford, BC and is the distributor for JDS repair (Bosch LH 2.3 ECU Repair - JDS Porsche) in Canada.

He should have the rebuilt unit in stock for $450 (I think) and you would not need to deal with customs plus save some $$$.
