the wheels were actually seated on the studs and not mounted to the spacer surface this resulted in a wheel that would wobble
Good point. When I put my rear spacers on at first I thought it would not work, but then I saw the bolt heads would fit into the recessed area between the studs. This is on my stock Porsche wheels which I actually like.

Funny how things change, now cars all have the brakes exposed, before wheels all covered, hubcaps, white walls or white lettering. Of course years ago people dressed up in public, now its baggy pants 4 sizes too big so pants all bunched up over shoes, butt crack showing and baseball hat on backwards, or sideways!

928 Classics, Project Phone Dial - Reviving a Classic, now on KICKSTARTER

928 Classics is pleased and excited to launch on Kickstarter, Project Dial - Reviving a Classic!

Due to the excellent response and support from our 928 community, as seen on Phone Dial Design Project - Modern 18" 3-piece forged:
the Project Phone Dial team is ready to move forward into wheel testing and pilot-production.

This is where you and Kickstarter come together with us to help launch into this next stage of the Project!
We ask that you review the project and the rewards... see what interests you.
  • Wheelsets are available for those who've been waiting to purchase, limited edition one-of-ten
  • Cool Phone Dial T-Shirts, Posters and Models are available to help support the project, as well.
Our funding goal is $28,928 and we have 30 days to get there!

I'm pleased to answer any questions you may have, either on RL or Kickstarter.
Also, feel free to email me at jim@928classics.com

Lets make these modern Phone Dials a reality! Thanks for your continued support!

Project Update: new rewards, request for feedback

Thanks to all who've backed this project so far... we're off to a great start!

I've added new rewards for FANS of the Phone Dial wheel. Take a look to see if the new gear interests you.

Also, I've commented on the project here, asking for feedback from those considering purchasing a wheelset.

And for those interested in general discussion on the project, the wheels, or any questions/feedback you may have...

Lets start talking about it!

Thanks!

Bump for today's 30 year anniversary of the Risky Business movie (August 5, 1983).

Joel (Tom Cruise), the "U-boat commander"; Rebecca De Mornay as the, uhm, working girl; Ray-Ban sunglasses; Bob Seger's Old Time Rock 'n Roll; and, of course, a 928 with the classic Phone Dials!

Bump for the last day!

It's a race to the finish line for Project 18" Phone Dial on Kickstarter!

<7 hours left to go and <$2500 left to raise to make this project successful!

Every bit helps, folks - be a part of team Project Phone Dial and get a cool reward!

Thank you to everyone that has contributed so far!

I am happy to announce that, thanks to all the contributors and word-spreaders, Project 18" Phone Dial made it's Kickstarter goal!!!!

The Project Phone Dial team can now perform the SAE wheel testing, which requires us to have some wheels manufactured for that abuse.

We have heard from our North American wheel manufacturer and they are ready to start the tooling and programming for the 18" Phone Dial wheels!

Onward to the next phase, and thank you to everyone that helped spread the word or contributed!

Awesome! Holding my breath on the price. Please don't let them cost more than my car did. Would be a shame if, after all this effort, no-one could afford them.
