Porsche Design, Less is More
Having owned the first generation Cayenne S, i came to the conclusion that Porsche Designers are far ahead of other auto manufacturers. Their car designs seem always criticized yet the designs if left alone remain fresh for decades..
I didn't particularly like the Cayenne looks very much, but read about it and wanted one anyway. I bought a used example from a young clueless Doc, it had about 30k miles. Great truck. Dr. wanted a fancier car, he bought a 7 series.. The design absolutely grew on me over a period of years, very strange how Porsche manages to do that when other cars on the road look great for a while, then so bad after 8 or 10 years (think BMW) Just Look at a mid 80s 3-series (E 30??) And then look at a mid 80s 928 or 911. But with the Cayenne, Porsche seemed to listen to the critics for profit reasons no doubt and reacted with the second generation Cayenne and gave it little stupid angular details and ruined it. The current Cayenne design is pretty but not tough looking. But it is 400 lbs lighter which is cool.
