Myth Busters used a 928

Myth Busters did a "reverse engineering" episode where they tested the old myth that a 928 would be faster in reverse due to it's shape.

It was on today when i got home around 3 pm. i don't know if it was a new episode or not.

They use an early euro automatic with phone dials, red with black interior and it was a very nice clean car.

They cut off the body (hard to watch)and flipped it around back to front and then tested its 0-60 and 1/4 mile times/ fuel consumption compared to it in normal form.

They loved the car and did treat it with respect if you can believe it.

Has anyone seen this?, don't want to give away the results if no one has.

Not a bad episode, but I'll watch any MB and definitely anything Porsche

Waste of a good Euro 928.
Uneeded mass market coverage of the 928.
Earned them a forever-ban from my house.
Couple years old.

I know, the seats were beautiful too. The paint looked like it was original to me. What a waste, someone who lives in CA contact then and see if they have the remains for the motor!

They did another Ep with I think a 944 (Might have been a 924) where they tried to cause a car to blow up by shooting the exposed gas tank with two shots - one to release some fumes, second shot to ignite.

And you can sometimes spot the mock up 928 model on the work bench when they talk about car myths.

Just wanted to post for anyone wondering, the 928 is much faster in it's normal build. It was much slower with the body flipped around, so the myth was Busted.

They messed up the myth

Having been a teen when the myth occurred, it was a Chevy Vega that was faster in reverse than with the body forward. Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins was alleged to have mounted a Vega backwards and it was faster. Guess they didn't want to ruin a classic like that, rare as they are.
