928 hunting FOUND ONE

1st I can't believe I am doing this. I used to own an early 78 silver 5 speed car #347. Had that car for 13 years finally one day decided to sell it. Now 10 years later I am thinking of getting another one. Must be S4 or newer, red or black, no sun roof, 5 speed. Daily street car that turn heads.

Then I got to thinking Hey is 928 Intl still around? I used to have them on speed dial.

I seen a couple cars that caught my eye on Autotrader and Evilbay. so the search begins. at least this time I know whatI am getting into buying an old Porsche.

Not entirely turned off my an LS powered car either.

Going to be very difficult to impossible to find a non sunroof s4 or later. Hard enough to find a 5 spd.

There have been a few nice ones pass by here on Pelican and Ebay. You might look at Hemmings, Barret-Jackson auctions, etc. To get all your requirements might be difficult.

Jim Doerr (Jadz928) has a sweet 78 silver euro 5 speed with striped cloth interior that he will sell to you, if you want to go retro to what you started with. I have driven that car and it has serious spunk. Also, there was another 78 pasha 5 speed for sale discussed on rennlist a few weeks back, but it wasn't silver, and I'm not sure it had the original engine. I know you are looking for an S4, but just thought I'd throw these early ones out for you in case you wanted to travel back down that path. I love my 78 (I've had an 84 and an 86.5, and have driven a couple of S4's). I would like to have an S4 in the garage too, tho.

I'm going to see that silver 78 soon, when I go to volunteer some electrical work on #6 up in Saginaw.
Want.
Probably can't buy it, though.

1989 Porsche 928 S4 5 Speed
That's a nice one at 1st look. But we all know a great paint job is only a couple mils thick.

Had a 78 not interested in an 85 or older even if it's a Euro.

as far as price ? Don't know............ if it's real nice ????? 20K More than that and I will go to my 2nd love the LS powered FD.

I've only seen a couple S4 or newer non sunroof cars, actually 3, in the last 5 years or so. Willhoit sold a 95 5 spd non sunroof for something like $107k a couple months ago.

OTOH find a S4 fixer upper that needs paint anyway and about $3k to swap on a non sunroof top.

I'm sure I have a picture somewhere. Car had some nice mods, S4 wheels. Front S spindles and brakes (big improvement). Bilstien sport coil overs from Mark Andersen's "S" race car. Weltmiester 450 lb front springs and the stock fronts went to the back. Delrin sway bar bushings. Borla single exhaust with cat by pass.

Hi Joe,

No affiliation with the car, but curious about your paint job comment.

If the same car in SD sold as mentioned above then I would have steered clear of it. as it has had extensive engine work, and a mangled drivers rear quarter.

Funny thing about the internet, things you document while inocently sharing will come back to bite you come time to sell. All by searching the screen name.

If there is such a coincedence that there are two near identical cars for sale in the same town at the same time then my appologies. but these cars are pretty damn rare.

Guess I'm dense, I'm not seeing the connection between a San Diego GTS and an 89 S4 in New Jersey.

Anyway, good luck in your search!

Nah, you may not have seen post #10.

I think I have already found the end of the internet with regards to 928's on the market this week. I have a list of usual search places. Evil Bay, autotrader, Rennlist, Pelican.

I remember when Devek had cars for sale on consignment. Did Devek closeup shop?

Figures you crazies on the left coast would be holding all the nice cars.

Found a 90 GT 5 speed that is enthusiast owned.

Now to figure out logistics and such while I try to talk myself off the cliff.

PPI Guess 928 INTL would do one for me.

Anyone have a guess at cost of shipping from LA Ca. to Gautier MS. 39553

I could fly and drive but dang that is a long way even in a fantastic car.

What's the general consensus of MPG on the newer cars? 20 MPG maybe????

It cost me $2200 to get mine from Seattle to NJ using Thomas Sunday, I asume CA to MS should be less.

If its near 928Intl its close to Precision Motorwerks, Greg Brown, best in the area for a PPI. Precision Motorwerks
