Looks like an Alfaorschemeo to me.

I don't like it but it looks like a well done conversion. So much strength of the 928 is in the roof I can't imagine they could reinforce it enough so it doesn't flex a lot if driven hard.

Someone must have mass produced them. Just do a Google search for 928 convertible and you'll see there's no shortage. All look similar from ob to 87+. Also see them pictured in a few rl members' avatars.
This one is downright sharp and the price seems more than fair. My biggest concern would be a conversion done due to a roll over.

Most of the conversions were out of CA in and around the L.A. area in the 80's when these cars were still being produced and high dollar. I just purchased one this winter and I am currently restoring it. It is a '79 5-spd that was upgraded with A.I.R. body parts to look like an s4. There were a few of them produced, and some on RL have them. My front bumper was cracked up so I replaced it and the side skirts with some Jacquemond body parts. Here is how it arrived after I stripped the interior and started pulling out all the unoriginal wiring. Also how it is before being painted. I just got it back from the painter and have not taken pics yet.

Reminds me of a 928 Targa that was offered by Buchmann & Buchmann (.B+B). I remember thinking at the time that is was as good as a car could possibly get. Looking at it now, though, I would describe it as "gross".
Buchmann 928 Targa (B+B 928 Targa) This convertible looks OK - better than the Targa, at least. |

Oh man, that does look hideous. The stereo and equalizer location looks like a quick sharp turn will most likely knock you out. Probably wouldn't affect the Blonde in the pic though

I like Dougs a bit more though. I like how the spoiler on the back breaks up the big flat table top area.

Sorry, no more spoiler. I decided to remove it and have the holes filled in. Keep it clean. Here are some pics. I still need to put all the trim and lights back on. Paint came out great. Right now the car is covered in pollen and still looks shiny.

I like the idea of a targa, but I think I would maintain the fastback.

I agree there. The B&B car looks too much like a pickup truck without it's rear glass. It would make a cool pickup though!

Been done! And to a GTS to boot, thank the insane danish taxes and the people dodging them for this abomination.

Mark I think just sold his pickup.
AFAIK the first 928 vert was made here in Orange, Calif by John Mach. He was in the process of restoring it last time I visited a few years ago. |
