The 83 has the digital clock right? if so that is a different setup then the round clock. The opening is smaller for 82 and older and that is why I would like to see a pic with the original radio. I'm trying to fig out what belongs there. Thanks anyways Fixer

por917, Sorry, don't know what model # the OEM head unit is. Do you have pics of your hidden head unit? Have a JVC-ipod head unit that I might install either in the stock location or the pass side shelf below the glovebox, then control with remote. Just not crazy about the installing something so modern in the OB. Pic below is of someone elses JVC unit I saved. T

My '82 came from the factory with the Blaupunkt Bamberg QTS with cassette.

I originally thought about repairing the head unit and taking it back to stock, but the cassette would not stay pushed in and the parts for reparing it are unobtanium, so I installed a cheap radio that fits pretty well.

I still have the head unit, which I guess would be ok for your cosmetic purposes. Its in decent shape, but has been in my garage for a couple months.

Tony, I will post a pic for you probably tommorow. What I did was made my 6th gen Ipod nano the head unit. the little square fits perfect in the ashtray slot just to the right of the cigarette lighter bay. What I did was remove the ashtray insert and fabricated a panel into that bay with a cutout for the patch cords for the Nano. The Nano works in conjunction with a smaller kicker amp under the pass seat. The cool thing about this set up is I use the old fader knob on the drivers side just next to the door as the volume. The way this whole system works is by a kit I found on the internet that has all the connections needed. I'm really pleased with the way it all works and sounds. I might add a EQ soon just to make the sound just a little bite better but it's not bad as it stands. What I really like about this setup is I can have my center console look back to stock and that is what I wanted to achive. Oh and the Nano has a radio function if you were wondering. Anyways I will post a pic for you if you like. Thanks for your info and pics!

Here's a pic of the radio that came with my car. As I mentioned, it's a Blaupunkt, Bamberg QTS model.

If anyone is looking for one, they very rarely turn up on German ebay. Other than that, they are a unicorn.

928 Ipod set up

Here are some pic's of my set up, the fader knob next to the parking brake is now a volume knob. What is a nice feature is the album art stays on during playback. If you want more info on how I did it just PM me. I'm pretty happy with the result. The other thing I like about this setup is the only modification was to the ashtray which can easily be restored to original.

That's pretty neat. Reason I still want to use the JVC headunit is that it has (IIRC) a 7 band eq built in, ipod selections are on screen, has a remote, etc, etc. T

Hey Tony, yes I understand about the EQ, that is the one thing I will probably add in the future. I do think that I could make it sound a bit nicer but for now it is fine. With this set up I mainly wanted to keep the car looking as original as I can but still have a means of playing my Ipod collection which is rather large. I love being able to bring 40+ albums with me on the fly. ( did I date myself lol)

This is the picture of the JVC in my car. When the JVC is off the screen is all dark. It is also a DVD player! If someone wants the original look if I sell the car they car install the original Blau with tape deck, back in.
