Hood & hatch " struts " tips / interchange

1980 US 928
Happy New Year Everyone the Year Looks good already so far
Although I Don't have any Tips I wish i did .
What Hood & Hatch Struts Interchange if anyone knows ? . Example can you use Struts from another Car ? M.B. , B.M.W. , Lamborghini Perhaps
How about a 944 Porsche ?
and what Years interchange / Part numbers Etc.
I expect some Struts / Shocks well interchange from some other Car so perhaps I can Acquire some from a Salvage Vehicle if they are still in order
Thanks in advance if anyone knows

As long as the length, cup on shaft end, mount to hood the same, Will work, But why waste your time on this?
A PAIR of NEW ones can be bought for about $30.
Update
OK, I checked, $36- Probably less if you shop around.

Tks Humm a Pair (2) so that's a Good Price for New
I wonder if the front and rear ( Hatch ) interchange
Thank You

The front and back do not interchange - new hatch lifts used on the hood are too strong - you will likely put a fold in the hood before they close - if you have weak (drooping) used hatch lifts you may (...?) be able to reuse them on the hood (for a while..?) - but be careful.

New lifts are one of the cheaper of the consumable items for your Porsche.

A set of Monroes is $11 - no need to interchange anything. $11 is FREE in 928 speak.

More Information for MONROE 901761

Just an FYI. If you don't replace the hood struts in pairs, there is a likelihood that the struts will push open the hood at different rates. This can cause binding at the hinges, and cause issues raising and lowering the hood.

New hood struts are relatively cheap. This is NOT a place that I would look to save a few bucks. Hoods are expensive

Got my last set from 928Intl half price sale used, about $8 a pair as I recall.

Using the wrong struts on the hood WILL put a bump in the hood.
