Pass. side tail light out, no power at connector...
Thought I needed to replace a tail light bulb. However, after replacement it still didn't work. Tried the bulb with a 12V connection and it is fine.
Took apart the connector to the tail light and I get nothing. If I turn on the turn signal I get signal on one of the connections. The lights appear to work except for this one bulb. It is the running light, i.e. the one that should be on whenever the headlight's on. Works fine on the driver side. The wiring looks pretty healthy (no dried, cracked wires) so not sure where to begin troubleshooting this. Any suggestions? This is a 1983 Euro 928S. I need the light to work to pass inspection for the year, so tempted to just pull a wire from the left running light to the right one, but would like to try to fix it properly first... |
I did look up the wiring diagram and found what I believe to be the proper fuses and checked, +12V on both sides on the right and left one (for the "marker lights" which look to feed from the same pin on the connector).
In-between is a "bulb tester", any chance it could be at fault? edit: Am I reading this right... seems like the fuses involved show as S1 and S2 on the wiring diagram. There's an S1 and S2 going into the bulb check module, pins 5 and 7. Then pins 3 and 4 look like they feed the tail lights. I could try bridging 5-3 and 7-4 if anyone can confirm these are the ones. :) |
check fuse #29

Nope, fuses all good. Going to see if I can get to the bulb check unit and start measuring there.

Is the front marker light working on the same side?
Take a look inside the bulb socket how does it look? Alan |
