928 Manual Gearbox Rebuild Advice
I've got a G28 / 05 manual gearbox (open diff) in my 80 euro that needs to be rebuilt - who??, with the cost - I only want to do this once.
Several issues to list first. 1. First gear has a chipped tooth, so it clicks a bit, but the rest of the gears ok. 2. Could rob First gear from another spare trans to keep it all original - OR 3. Use the later year G28-10 that I have and have it rebuilt and lose some of the cars originality, but better syncro's. I live on the east coast, but willing to ship to get it done right the first time. Any Input Would be appreciated - THANKS milspam |

best place for a rebuild is Precision motorworks in Anaheim CA Greg Brown is the guy,
go buy a big cooler then strap the trans inside it so it wont get damaged during shipping

G28-10
I would suggest using the G28-10. I did that exact change in my 1980 US with very good results. Chances are that the original weak syncros caused your gear failure in the first place.

I spoke with Greg Brown last week about my 84 trans and his exact words when I asked about a time frame was " Many Weeks" and all I need is synchros at 60k. Expect $2500 to $3000 plus shipping and extras.......not to mention a really big Igloo cooler
