Power Windows
 

Anyone ever work on the power windows? My driver side motor is working, but window not going up or down. Pass window will go down, but needs help to put back up. You can hardly see in there let alone reach in to do anything. :confused:

passenger side ..my guess is the switch - drivers side..is the arm moving at all?

I believe the arm is moving. Have new switches ordered for GP.

if both the motor and the switch wind up being good take off the interior door panel and check if the roller wheel came out of the slide track....both of my windows did this.

Those window switches are all junk and must have been made by the Italians as were the ones in my Pantera. Had had to replace all of mine plus sun roof. Now my rear wiper switch is shot. There was someone selling a solid state switch panel to replace all those console switches. Think it was about $135, but forget where I saw it. It looked like the way to go.

Those illuminated switches are not available any longer unfortunately. The component prices to build them went out of sight according to Hans at Project 9

Well...actually the little wheel on the arm disintegrated! Suppose I'll have to buy a whole regulator just to get the little wheel.:(

And so it goes...
 

Other window now going up and down, albeit very slowly. I'll keep exercising it and see if it will free up more. I'll probably just leave the windows down as I only drive "Lucy" on nice sunny days and keep her in the garage. I usually machined a new wheel for the window regulator from Delrin, and then bolted it to the arm or machined a new rivet and hammered it. If they stick in the up position, a piece of the wheel has broken off and the flat spot is sliding up and down. Actually it's sliding fore and aft. In the window up position, it goes overcenter and wedges too tightly for the motor to start it back down. (forward in the slide)

Re: the slow moving window. I carefully drill out the "riveted" part of the motor cover and remove the cover, clean the hard grease from the insides, drill and tap the rivet spots for a 3 or 4 mm bolt, then regrease and bolt back together.

I did basically the same thing he did ^^^^^^^^ to both windows; they both have worked flawlessly since I have owned the car.

I suppose it's tricky to fish that mechanism out of the door. Guess I'm fixin to find out!

Maybe fix it without removing?

Removed the regulator, which was quite easy. Had to grind the peened over end on the wheel axle, then it popped right out. Installed the new wheel and peened over the end. Installed the regulator getting the little wheel in the groove. A little tricky but was easier than most 928 repairs. Window now goes up and down like new. Been operating the pass side window and it's speeding up. I will later on pull that regulator and grease the gears when I run out of more important repairs.
