No dash lights on S4

I believe the rheostat on the left under side of dash pod is for the dimmer. When I went to check that this morning one of my leads I was disconnected, and I found out that that was because the connector to the rheostat was broken. I jumpers the two leads like below and still not dash lights. I have 11.64 volts at the jumper.

That suggests to me that I am getting power there and it is likely bad bulbs?

did dash ever light since you've had it ? - if it did it would be odd for all bulbs to go at same time - but they are all probably 33 years old

Good morning, thanks for the note back.

No dashlights since I've had it, but agree odd they would all be out. That trigger an idea. Sat in OR for about 7 years so dealing with some electrical corrosion issues. Have not cleaned the steering column ground yet, since I can't find it.

Edit - looks like you have to pull the dash pod off to gain access to them.

Dwayne's Garage -

Hey TDSkip - To remove the Instrument Pod for a repair, Dwayne has some of the best step by step instructions around. You will want to select the "Pod Removal & Instrument Cluster Repair I" and/or the "Instrument Cluster Repair II". This will cover a lot more ground than you will need but it's nice to have on hand.

I've used "Dwayne's Garage" information for so many projects I can't count them all. Thanks again Dwayne-
