'86 951 Water Pump-new or old version
Hi All,
I have an '86 951 and planning on replacing the water pump. I understand that after a certain date the water pump design changed a bit (larger roller, modified thermostat, etc.). Apparently, if you have the old version, there's things that need to be done when installing the new water pump. I can't find my manufacture date so not sure what pump I need to buy and/or whether I need some sort of update kit. VIN # ends in 952 GN1 53475. Is the S/N 53475 translatable to the manufacture date? Any help would be appreciated! John |

Hi J,
The production date of your 951 is on a black decal located on the left inner fender splash panel near the left corner of the windshield…just lift the hood and check it out! I too own a 1986 951 Guards red,my production date is 12/1985…real early car! Best regards, Tom , |
