Dipstick broke off
The tip of my dipstick broke off the other day, about two or three inches of it. I'm assuming it isn't safe to run the engine. Any idea on how to get it out? So far I've drained the oil to try and flush it out and taken off the tube to check if its in there. I have also use a magnet on a straight extendable antenna dealio and stuck it in the oil drain plug and the hole where the tube goes with no success. What could the piece be resting on in there?
Thanks all! Its an 87 951. |

I don't think that it would pose a problem. It is sitting on the bottom and won't get sucked into the oil system.

I wanted to give an update. Today I was able to drag it out! I got it using a bendable magnet I bought at Ace through the oil drain hole, probably coupled with encouragement from a larger magnet under the oil pan.
