AC Training Webinar

Secrets of AC could be the title. I’m not afraid of any part of my 1995 993, except the AC. Lost Freon a year ago. Tried reading forums and various websites. Finally took to very reputable repair shop of exotic and regular cars. Calls me , can’t find leak. Put dye in in. Drove for 800 miles, goes warm. Take it back in, no evidence of any dye. They put more dye in it and said drive it again. I crawl around my garage floor with the dye light and goggles looking for dye in the water, after each time I drive it, which would confirm Evaporator. Nothing, now I’m past 800 miles and nothing, still blows cold. I don’t even enjoy driving it anymore, because I drive to find a leak, not to enjoy.😥

If the system has a charge use an electronic leak detector and sniff the vents, around the expansion valve and the condensation drain tube from the evaporator box.

You can also sniff around the lower section of the condenser (where debris collects), around the compressor manifold too.

Otherwise, we can send lawyers, guns, and money.

Sometimes it not the AC compressor or lines, Its the ac/heater system it's self, the system can be leaking hot air in the vents, That happen when the flaps aren't adjusted correctly, or lose hoses letting in air. for the AC system to work at its coldest it has to be a closed system.

The hot air flaps at the rear of the car will only close with back pressure, if you have an air leak in the front of car the hot air flap[s wont close. There for letting hot mix in your cold air and never really letting you have ice cold air. If you feel hot air in your cabin with your windows down and or sun roof open... you have a hot air leaking from your system.

Mine was leaking from under the dash, heater hose connected to a rectangular plastic piece with foam seal wasn't pushed in all the way in to make a perfect seal. Once it sealed I had ice cold air. I did adjusted all the flappers and some flapper control units needed replacing and replace the CCU because of intermediate power. It's been 2 years of great working AC sense.

Good Luck
Helio
