Radio antenna help

Since I got the car I could not get any radio stationed tuned in and while cleaning the car today I found this box that seems to convert the cars Antenna to a type that the Continental radio can use.

The box has a wire that looks like it may have been connected somewhere at some point.

Now I read that there is amplifier for the windscreen antenna. The Porsches antenna cable has a wire coming from it and that seems to be wired to the stereo.

So my question is, should that wire coming from the small box be powered?

Cheers
Alex

If you haven't already, I would first try unpluging the add-on box completely. Connect up the antema without it then see what you get. The stock antenna booster is located just behind the front hood right hinge. kinda hard to get to but you should take a look at it and make sure it is connected.

Another note - when you get it working I would like to know how you like the radio sound. I have the VDO radio which is the continental radio with blue lighting . it sounds pretty good with the usb drive but i am not all that happy with the radio.
