1999 996 Mechanical Issues

I have noticed a lot of 1999 996's for sale on e-ebay lately. A lot of the cars are in 25K mileage range selling for $40K. This price seems awfully low. Did this particular year have a lot problems associated with it? The 2000 996's rarely go for less than $48K.

So, I am assuming that 2000 996's are commanding this premium because they are improvement over the 1999 model?

996 Mechanical Problems

Hey, Flat.

Check out my thread on this exact same subject in the 996 forum here. It's called "Why Are So Many 1999 996s For Sale?" I've learned a lot and you will, too! :) Fog

Thanks Fog. In the August 2003 issue of Excellence on Page 104 a reader mentions that he/she purchased 99 996 with 39K miles on it and the factory had replaced the engine under warranty at 37K miles. This leads me to believe that if the Factory is replacing the engine, that the 99's are considered more problematic than the 2000's.
