WTB Porsche 993 Coupe Driver's Side (Left) Main Door Seal

I'm looking for an original equipment 993 driver's side main body door seal, NOS or used in very good condition, part number 964.531.950.00. Porsche and the aftermarket no longer make this in the original design.

Are the new ones bad, really bad or what?
Do they look different, don't fit well or both?

I've always used factory seals as aftermarket seals never fit well.
Sad to see the factory parts are not original.

I have the same seal needing replacement.

I recently installed the door seal on the driver side with an aftermarket part on my 964 and I’m not ecstatic with the finished result. Specifically it seems the new seal is too thick and closing the door requires quite a bit more effort than before. I’m going to give it another couple of months to see if it compresses with time but if it doesn’t I’m going to have to get an OE part and hopefully get better results. I wonder if the 993 seal has similar issues?

Hi Jim,

The OEM seal that Porsche sells now is thicker and a different profile (ribbed as opposed to smooth). It's also one seal for both left and right sides, the original was specific to each side. The new seal is a compromise at best, doesn't look correct and makes it difficult to close the door without slamming it.

I looked under every rock on the internet for a new old stock one with no success, apparently, they go for $1k when they do pop up. I was fortunate enough to find a decent used one for $300.

Pretty much my observation after installing one a few weeks ago. What’s interesting is that the door is only difficult to close if the everything else is closed up, if the passenger door or windows are open the door closes with much less effort. It’s almost as if it’s not allowing the air to properly move.

Nothing helps more than shared depression.
I knew they were expensive but had no knowledge of any change.

New seals will always fit tighter and the 993 was made to be air tight therefore the push back shutting the door.

Time to do door handle seals, speakers and this one door seal.

The current Porsche parts numbers do not work, they are too thick and based on an earlier 911 part. Another failure by Porsche Classic.

This part has worked for a number of 993 owners. I have not tried it yet.

Hard to say Porsche classic failed it is a compromise but we are fortunate enough to have classic parts. Many marques don't support cars over 10 years of age.
