Muffler bypass
Looking for a way to bypass the final (washtub) muffler. Any experience with this exercise? Also, will it wake up the neighbors?
Thanks. |
Fred, I've used a Bursch final muff bypass for years. Don't know if they still make it?, only saw it advertised once way back. And yes its loud, too loud? maybe but then it sounds great winding up to 6000 rpm

I have a muffler bypass on my '88. I know they aren't the same, but it sounds good, and yes it is loud. It's not as loud as a Harley until you really wind it up.
I drive mine everyday, only 2000-3000 rpm in my neighborhood. |
I bought the center muffler bypass. It saves weight at the furthest back point on the car and it isn't too loud. I also think it does a better job of reducing back pressure since it replaces the cat with a straight pipe but I have no proof of that claim.
