911 heater diagram
Where, other than the $450 manual, can I get a diagram of the heating system for a 90 911 C2?

Hi Jeff
Any area/component of the heater/AC system in particular??? (The 964-993 system is quite complex) If you can narrow it down a bit i will try to post anything i have. The central control unit in the dash (the part you see with the knobs levers etc.) are known to fail. PS, check your Personal Messages later, Max

Bought the car used. Had dealer repair heater - we were getting hot air all the time. Now the driver's side panel below door is very warm even when heater turned off. A/C works great but struggles when there is heat coming through side panels on driver's side. I think there should be shut-off so no heat comes into passenger area but am not sure. Does this provide some clues?

probabaly one of the flaps not working properly. the problem could be the flap itself, the linkage to the flap, or the unit controling the linkage.
I would try to have the dealer fix it correctly, or pay for the repairs at a dealer that can. I looked in the factory manual a bit, and for the most part it looks like the whole heater/ac diagnostic- repair thing is above my head. Hopefully someone else out there has some actual experience with a similar problem. good luck, Max

Max,
THank you for checking. The repair to get the initial heat turned off ran $1200 at the dealer and while I am willing to go that route, I would like to understand the problem a bit. You imply that there are flaps that move; that helps. Are there diagrams available that show aspects of the system? Thanks again, Jeff |

if the dealer charged you $1200 for a repair that is not %100 correct, i would be pretty choked!!!. 1200 is about the cost of a new control unit. Is that what they changed?? It may just need a linkage adjustment now.
let me know your email address and i will try to get some diagrams to you. (the file size restrictions here won't let me post a diagram that is very clear) by the way, some the the illustrations in the factory manual are somewhat vague, unless you have had things apart before. fortunetley, I have not had to do any repairs with my heater or A/c. send me your email address in a personal message, or to max@blue3.net oh,i have sent you a personal message . max

The Bosch KTS Hammer (Porsche factory OBD tool) will scan and tell you what faults exists in your heating and cooling systems. It can actually activate the flaps in the heating system while the car is not running. The dealer should be able to use that tool or don't pay that $1200 bill.

Tom,
Thank you for your reply. Never heard of a OBD tool but will ask the question of the dealer and of my mechanic. Jeff |
