Porsche Crest RUF Exhaust

Hello 911 owners !

I know i am not in the right forum since i have a Boxster S.
But maybe you can help me (post is in the boxster forum too)

I have installed the RUF 3400 S exhaust on my Boxster S 2001.

I noticed after having driven about 1000 km that sound is much louder at low speed and till 3000 RPM.
After 3000 RPM, sound is very discrete.

RUF confirmed me that to burn out the exhaust, I have to drive the car about 5000 km if on highway else driving approx. 15.000 km.

What do you think about this ?
Did you experienced such issue with other aftermarket exhaust ?

Thanks in advance for your help,
regards,
Yann

Any exhaust that uses packing will have the problem you described. Doesn't matter if its stainless wool or fiberglass. The better competition type mufflers will be designed to come apart easily for repacking. Street style can also be opened up and repacked by a competant welder.

Packing means replacing the blown out/ deteriorated sound absorption medium which is usually either fiberglass or stainless steal, the material looks like insulation and is wound aroud the inner core of the muffler.
